Text Box: The Accelerated Cluster designed to serve students in grades 3 –5 identified in the areas of general intellectual ability and specific academic aptitude is located at the following schools: The Accelerated Cluster for grades 3—5 offers: · Teachers trained in gifted education · Specially designed curriculum for gifted/talented students · Self-contained classes of students working with intellectual peers · Advanced technology instruction · Curriculum-enhancing field trips · Cooperative learning groups · Whole language, discussion-based literative program · Wide variety of novels including content-related non-fiction novels · Math and language arts curriculum advanced by one school year · Science and social studies differentiated to challenge gifted learners · Lateral exploration of all subject areas · Higher  level critical and creative thinking skills throughout curriculum · Guest speakers to expose topics beyond textbooks
